Explore the vibrant city of Cali, known for its salsa culture, delicious food, and rich heritage. Volunteer to teach English at Colegio Americano, where you’ll educate students from pre-K to high school on various subjects, including United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This global service-learning experience supports UN SDG 4.7, ensuring learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, human rights, gender equality, and global citizenship. With natural wonders and plenty of activities, this 7-day program offers a perfect mix of meaningful volunteer work and exciting cultural experiences.

Educational Opportunities

The unique, online, pre-departure global service-learning and citizenship course will prepare you to make the most of your time in Colombia. In the course, you will learn the history and culture of the destination, the mission and vision of our partners in education, and UN Sustainable Development Goals. This GSLC experience is designed to foster the development of educated, compassionate, global citizens and leaders.

1. Education and Training: By volunteering to teach English at Colegio Americano, participants engage directly with educational practices, curriculum development, and student engagement across various subjects, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

2. Global and Cultural Studies: Teaching the UN SDGs and promoting human rights, gender equality, and global citizenship connects to subjects related to cultural understanding, global education, and social responsibility.

3. Hospitality and Tourism: Exploring the vibrant city of Cali, with its rich culture, salsa, food, and natural wonders, provides exposure to tourism-related industries, hospitality, and cultural immersion.

4. Social and Human Services: The focus on teaching and promoting values like equality and citizenship aligns with social work and human services, emphasizing community development and social responsibility.

Cultural Connections

Enjoy salsa dancing lessons, a chiva bus tour of the city, traditional market visits, hiking, church services, and walking tours.
